Upon arrival at Kamuzu international airport, you will meet with our professional guide then you will be transferred to Mafumu Lodge located in the heart of business district in Lilongwe on dinner, bed and breakfast. This is a 30 minutes’ drive to the Lodge.
After breakfast at the lodge, you will be transferred to Satemwa Tea Estates in Thyolo and spend two nights at Huntingdon House on full board basis. Huntingdon House is the epitome of old colonialism in Malawi, from the beautiful backdrop of the tea estates to the manicured lawn with a croquet set up. It is a 5 hours 30 minutes’ drive to get to Satemwa from Lilongwe. You will explore and appreciate the Tea Estates, macadamia nuts farms and have time to associate with the locals around the tea estate and learn about their culture.
After breakfast at Huntingdon House you will be transferred to Zomba and you will stay at Sunbird Kuchawe inn for one night on full board basis. There, you will have to go for hiking, visit the waterfall and the Mulunguzi dam, and enjoy the scenic view of the Zomba plateau and interact with the locals.
After breakfast at Kuchawe inn you will be transferred to Liwonde National Park which is a 2 hour 30 minutes’ drive. Liwonde National Park cradles the Shire River, where hippos grunt and elephants wade. At Mvuu Camp, the wild comes alive. You will spend a night at Mvuu Lodge on full board and activity basis. You will have time to go for Boat Safaris along the Shire river where you will be in close proximity with the wild. You will also enjoy the morning and afternoon Game Drives where you will see Lions, Elephants, Hippos and many more.
After your final round of game viewing in Liwonde, you will proceed on a 2 hours’ drive to Lake Malawi for some downtime on the shores of Cape Maclear located on the southern shores of the Lake. Cape Maclear`s relaxed atmosphere is the perfect spot for fantastic water sporting activities like snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving. Upon arrival, you will have lunch at Kayak Africa. At 15:00 hours your boat transfer will depart for the stunning Mumbo Island, which is approximately 45 minutes ride.
With amazing underwater boulders, around 500 species of colorful Cichlid fish, and placid clear water, you will be spending two nights at mumbo island on full board and activities.
After enjoying breakfast at Mumbo Island, enroute to Lilongwe, you will have a stopover at Mua Mission for a cultural visit before getting back to Lilongwe. At the mission you will learn more about the Chewa, Ngoni, and Yao culture while appreciating some master piece carving or souvenirs. You will then be driven to Lilongwe for your flight back home on the 8th day, filled with cherished memories of the warm heart of Africa.
